Description

With the coming of new "Child, Child Care" age in Japan, embodied by the new laws "Kodomo, Kosodate Kanren Sanpo" (literally, "Child, Child Care Related 3 Laws": issued in 2013), the essential question is strongly asked about Home Economics: What is the essential role of home economics? And how is its originality is to be kept and exercised? As for investigation, we implemented a semi-structured group interviews to 8 municipalities and their charged staffs in Chugoku Shikoku Area (Hiroshima, Okayama, Kagawa, and Tokushima Prefecture). On the basis of our findings gained from the investigation, we are presenting new direction like the following below: (a) "Comprehensive Viewpoint" of home economics, and it's the peculiar way of problem discovery and problem-solving, should be induced to personnel training systems in municipalities and child caring teacher in practical level. (b) "Family Life Education", that includes education for marriage and relationship, personal well-being is strongly suggested to be adopted, along with that new system: Especially "Learning to Be a Parent" is the basics, and it covers from sexual education to caring. And it also contains personnel system to bring up qualified persons who can "teach". (c) At present a newly established curriculum is strongly necessary, of which core is "Power to Connect" (connecting power or qualification of networks or person to person bonds). And that curriculum is supposed to efficiently work in municipalities (administrative divisions of cities), private companies and nonprofit organizations.
