Abstract
GC (gated community) that clearly shows boundary lines of habitation is a type of communities on offline world (Blakely & Snyder, 1997=2004). In this study, we classified 151 GC on SNS into four groups that were "communication with acquaintances", "communication with strangers", "personal use" and "closed completely" although the study was exploratory and limited. Moreover, we found differences on cathartic effect between GC and non-GC. Non-GC was that we could reveal fear without destroying and changing relationships with friends and acquaintances.
