Abstract

Misuzu Kaneko once said, "It is natural for everyone to be different from each other." Her statement is certainly true, but it seems to be a little too ideal to actually teach at school. Then is there any practical method by which students can fully recognize both themselves and others? One answer, I suggest, is to make students read up to some place of a text and then supplement the rest by their own imagination. By this means, I hope, students will develop their critical eyes. Here I will read Otosan-no-Backdrop as an instance of this method.
