Description
"Rindo-to-nadeshiko," an unfinished story by Kyoka Izumi, originally started as a magazine serial entitled "Kurokami." But, after the serial was switched to another magazine and eventually interrupted, only the first half of the story was published in book form. Here I will read this unfinished work while following its complicated publishing history. More specifically, I will examine the way the plot was affected by the changing condition of publishing (for example, the sudden disappearance of an important character named Mori). In so doing, I will reconsider the meaning of the text in the author's later career.
