Abstract

Some teachers use a literary text as a sort of ethical material to teach moral principles. Maybe they do so because they know little about the potentialities of reading. Indeed, reading itself is no less creative than writing, for one can rework some other person's writing into one's own text as a subject of signification. Thus the act of reading is that of creating the self through a linguistic interaction with others. Here I will examine the principle of reading as self-creation which always demands that the reader should make some decision beyond relativism.
