Abstract

The most common form of homicide committed by female juveniles in the past andpresent is neonaticide. Even though there are more alternatives in recent years fordealing with unwanted pregnancies, such as abortion, marriage after pregnancy, or single parenthood, the number of neonaticides committed by female juveniles remains constant. Attempts to eradicate it have not been successful, and the issues involving neonaticide by female juveniles remain unresolved today. In this paper, female juveniles who committed neonaticide in the last five years were separated into the following three groups: controlled, unstable, and immature. The subjects were categorized based on their personality types. Background factors leading up to neonaticide were analyzed for each of these groups based on how the individuals reacted to members of the opposite sex and family attributes. The controlled type was defined as having a tendency to suppress expressions of honest emotion and had an excessive concern for the wishes and concerns of parents. The unstable type was defined as having not achieved emotional stability due to family problems. The immature type was defined as having selected a passive lifestyle dependent on the situation, and lacking in problem-solving abilities in difficult situations. The analytical results demonstrated characteristic traits for each of these types leading from pregnancy up to the commission of the crime.
