抄録

A simple process to produce hydrogen from sewage sludge has been developed. The process consists of grinding sewage sludge with additives of hydroxide nickel and calcium, and heating the ground samples at relatively low temperature. Experiments to produce hydrogen with various added amounts of both hydroxides have been conducted. In general, the more the added amounts of hydroxides are, the higher hydrogen yield is. On the contrary, in case of less than 0.1 mol in addition of Ni hydroxide, the hydrogen yield increases with an increase in in amount of Ca hydroxide at 3 mol and decrease with further addition. XRD analyses have shown the formation of calcium carbonate as well as nickel oxide and nickel metal from the added hydroxide in the solid residues after heating. Both raw sample and dried one of sewage sludge have almost the same hydrogen yield with the amount of the added hydroxides.
