Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the algal biofuel production system and find out which characteristic of alga is suitable for energy use. For the sake of variety, we address five algae that include photoautotrophic and heterotrophic. In this study, cultivation area is 1 ha and final production is BioJet Fuel(BJF). Biomass productivity is determined by using growth curve in order to reflect the algal growth characteristics. The results show that energy balance is negative except Chlorella and production cost of photoautotrophic algae is much higher than conventional fossil fuel. Scaling up the cultivation area and keeping process efficiency high are necessary to make algal biofuel feasible.
