Description
Fekete et al. and Ibayashi et al. reported that either K_3 or K_1 enhanced the effect of prednisolone. The attempt was made to test whether K_2 enhanced the effect of prednisolone. The anti-inflammatory effect of K_2 was not influenced by adrenalectomy and did not enhanced the effect of prednisolone in rat paw edema. K_2 did not summated the inhibitory effect of prednisolone on the granuloma proliferation in cotton pellet test and K_2 was also not enhanced the effect of prednisolone in the thymus involution test. In these experiments, the effects of K_2 were similar to that of solvent and influences of solvent was thought to be important in the anti-inflammatory effect of fatty soluble compounds. From the above results, it was not shown that K_2 enhanced the effects of prednisolone. It appears to be questionable that K enhanced the effects of adrenocortical steroid hormone.
