Description
To diversify the fuel kind and advance the use of renewable energy in coal fired power stations, it is a useful method to increase the co-firing rate of woody biomass. In the present biomass co-firing, the limit of co-firing rate is below several % by deterioration of the grindability. In our previous study, it was confirmed that the carbonization of raw woody biomass was effective to improve the grindability by evaluation with a test roller mill. In this study, pelletizing conditions of carbonized biomass to raise the energy density was investigated. And the gridability of pellets made from carbonized woody chip was evaluated. As results, it was cleared that the pelltizing of carbonized chip was possible and the grindability of pellets made from carbonized chip was improved as comparison with the grindability of carbonized chip.
