説明

New venture is a small company which has high risks. Many new ventures were born to be a very short lifespan. From this background, the purpose of this article is to find the factors of Japanese new venture's continuation. When an entrepreneur undertakes innovative business, it does not necessarily bring a good result. From the lesson of bankruptcy, we learned that the first attempt ended in success, but the second attempt thereafter came to failure. Therefore, we thought the more influence he has on his company, the more failures occur. The power against the entrepreneur's intention (Kigyouka-no-Ishi: entrepreneur's adherence to innovative business) is weakened by employees' intention (Juugyouin-no-Ishi). On the basis of such a consideration, a questionnaire inquiry was made. The survey for 1,000 personnel managers in Japanese new ventures was conducted, May, 2004, and we got 298 samples. We discovered variable of employees' intention from factor analysis, and its correlation chart from graphical modeling. By using such statistical technique, we can acquire a reality of influence of entrepreneur's intention and employees' intention on continuation of a new venture. According to the above survey, employees' intention was the factor of Japanese new venture's continuation. And the employees' intention was supported by two factors. One is "friendliness" and the other is "tension." Although the two factors were useful to continuation, the friendliness also had a negative and indirect relation to continuation. The suggestions for continuation of new ventures from this fact are the following three points. First, entrepreneur must not lose the concern about new business. Second, entrepreneur has to promote learning of employees. In order to do so, entrepreneur has to permit their failure to some extent. Third, some extent of "tension" is required at the same time.
