Abstract

In this study we focus on the processes and environments which create forming activities by children, and clarify the expressive activities of children in these “places”. In Chapter 1, General Rules of “Essentials of Kindergarten Education” “Nursery School Nursing Guidelines” “Essentials of Certified Children’s Garden Education/Nursing”, it is stated that education and nursing is “conducted through environment”, and environmental constitution is created by people, things, and places—which is to say the “physical environment” and “human environment”—in mutual interrelation with one another. And so we analyzed and considered the process which creates forming activities by children from the practice of “creative activities” using the body in a big way and the environmental constitution of “places” where children independently engage in expressive activities from the physical environment and human environment sides. We found that with actions “using the body in a big way” as intermediaries, a variety of play activities developed while abundantly imaginative forming actions were also created. Furthermore, it was made clear that creating an environmental constitution and “places” that foster abundant expression by children can potentially produce even more abundant expression by children.
