Abstract
In the DDF (Diesel Dual Fuel) gas engine, the spontaneous ignition of diesel spray promotes the combustion of gaseous-fuel mixture supplied into the intake flow of the diesel engine, which easily enables to exhibit the highly efficient power conversion from the combustible gases with a variety of compositions. This research aims to demonstrate the feasibility of the DDF gas engine by using a multi-purpose diesel engine. From the experimental results fuelled by hydrogen and natural gas, the effects of diesel-fuel amount and gaseous-fuel equivalence ratio on the combustion processes, engine performance and emission characteristics are shown together with the limitations of engine operations.
