Description

To clarify the nucleation mechanism of adhesion at the tip of the tool during machining of aluminum alloy, the lathe machining test have been performed for each stage of aged A6061 alloy after solution treatment using cemented carbide tool K10. As a result, The remarkable adhesions were observed on the tool face at an underaged alloy after solution treatment where a large work hardening appeared on stress vs strain curves of the alloys. The microstructure where the second phase has coherency for the matrix such as underaged stage of A6061 alloy, it is considered that the surface roughness and its variation became large because underage alloy has the large work hardening and has more activity for a nucleation of the adhesion.
