Description
Large die castings with shell structure for automobile have a thick gate and many runners just after casting which have to be removed using knife-edge cutters because the method by applying bending force to them has some possibility to deform the part of product. In this paper, the cutting method of die castings by knife-edge cutter is examined, mainly focused on the quality of cutting surface and the cutting force through using cutters with several cutting-edge shapes. As cutting condition has a strong effect on the separating process aluminum alloy die castings, the optimum condition should be analyzed in detail experimentally.
