Abstract

The primary chatter and regenerative chatter of the turning tools are treated in this paper. I have obtained the stability condition of the reduced equation of motion of the turning tools. The regenerative chatter may be said to consist of the forced and the self-excited vibrations. The regenerative chatter may cause the resonance due to the cutting conditions. The self-excited chatter of the turning tools may be said to outdo the forced chatter.
