Abstract

This paper presents a form of the stress function for the plane problems of the orthotropic plate having an unstressed elliptic hole and a free straight edge. As an example, a semi-infinite plate with an elliptic hole and subjected to a uniform tension parallel to straight edge is treated and the stresses are given in a form of power series.
