Description

We are engaged in a development of swimming motion coaching system by using a sensor device. The main targets are beginners and intermediate level swimmers. One of the requirements of this system is the automatic swimming style classification. To achieve this requirement we need to decide a duration of stroke. We conducted an experiment to measure stroke time from college students with 7 to 20 years swimming experience. Using this data, we constructed the normal distributions of the stroke time for each swimming style. We calculated a representative duration of stroke as the value at which the sum of the distributions takes the maximum value. As a results, we can decide the duration of stroke for developing swimming motion coaching system.
