抄録

The author improved the graphical method of the determination of the yields in coal preparation by using the results of sink-float analyses.<BR>Letaibe the weightpercent of a certain specific gravity fraction of the cleaned coal, bi, ci anddibe the weight percent of the same specific gravity fractions of the middling, the waste and the feed, respectively. And letx, yandzbe the ratios of the weight of the cleaned coal, middling and waste, to thefeed respectively.<BR>Then<BR>x+y+z=1 (1)<BR>aix+biy+ciz=di(2)<BR>Substituting (1) to(2)<BR>η=yξ+x<BR>ξ=bi-ci/ai-ci, η=di-ci/ai-ci<BR>The points (ξ, η) are approximately on a straight line. And, therefore, the approximates of x and y are estimated by the parameters of the straightline ξ and η are determined graphically as follows:<BR>H and K are marked on the parallel axes, OM and PN respectively so that OH=ci, PK=ai. The point on the line HK is plotted so that its ordinate is bi.Then, the abscissa of the point represents ξ, where unit length is OP. Byusing diinstead of bi, η is obtained (Fig. 1).<BR>This method can be conveniently applied to the various milling calculations, too.
