The purpose of this report is to examine the adaptability of a simple and economic chemical precipitation method developped in Frence for uranium ores from Ningyotoge-Mine, and at the same time, to study some other processes derived from this method such as sulfuric acid leaching and two-stage leaching.
The results obtained are summarized as follows:
(1) Sulfuric acid leaching studies on two uranium ores indicated that uranium could be leached with satisfactory recoveries.
(2) To prepare the calcic preconcentrate with a good recovery from sulfuric leach liquor of A-ore, the ratio [PO43-]/[Fe3+] had to be maintained below 0.28% during the 1st stage precipitation process. Preconcentrcite assaying 23% U was prepared and 98% of uranium could be recovered at a lime consumption of about 51kg per ton of ore. Magnesia could be substituted for lime as a precipitating agent. In this case, preconcentrate assaying 18.5% U was obtained in one stage precipitation with a recovery of 98% U at a magnesia consumption of about 32kg per ton of ore.
(3) Application of two-stage leaching process for A-ore could be result in an economy of 15kg of sulfuric acid per ton of ore.
