Nakatsugo area of the Ningyo-toge mine consists of the coarsegrained biotite-granite of the basementrock, and the unconformably overlying sedimentary rocks, andesitic lavas and their pyroclastics of Tertiary period.
Generally speaking, uranium deposits are developed in basal conglomerate and arkose sandstone just above the unconformity plane, but in parts of Nakatsugo deposit uranium minerals are precipitated in shsle bed lying concordantly on basal conglomerate and arkose sandstone.
They are deposited along the lamination or stratification in comparatively coase parts.
Generally uraium contents in shale is less than 0.05% U3O8, but in some parts it is more than 0.1% U3O8.
There is the positive correlation between uranium and sulfur contents, but there are little between uranium and phosphorus, arsenic and carbon contents.
These facts indicate that uranium minerallization is related especially to sulfide minerals.
The main uranium mineral in shale type deposits of Nakatsugo is not ningyoite.
