抄録

In order to elucidate the earth pressure phenomena around an opening made in a weak ground, the authors have analysed the increase in the earth pressure acting on the support of an opening and the stress distribution in the ground under the assumption that the leading factor of the increassing earth pressure was the alteration of the mechanical property and condltion of the ground, accompbnied by the increase in the porosity of ground.<BR>The results obtained can explqin the mechanism of every earth pressure phenomenon in a weak ground and give some guidance as to the support for openings in such a ground.
