- An experiment on Wet Screening of Sedimentary Uranium Ore at Ningyô-tôge Mine

Abstract
The uranium deposit in Ningyo-toge area occur in the bottom of Ningyo-toge formation in Tertiary resting unconformably on the granite which spread over Chugoku district. Uranium minerals of the deposit occur mainly in arkose sandstone or porous matrices of conglomerate, coating surfaces and filling the cracks of various pebbles of conglomerate. The uranium grade of fine matrices is higher than that of pebbles. So it may be able to concentrate the ore contents and to reduce the ore feed for mill by collecting fine matrices by washing and screening.<BR>An experiment using washing and screening has been carried out on the ores of oxidized and unoxidizedzone of Toge deposit. It has been proved that the experiment was much effective on the unoxidized ore. When we collect the slime passing through 0.15mm dia. screen, the uranium grade of concentrate was increased as much as 6.7 times than that of crude ore, the ratio of concentration became 9.3 and the recovery percentage of U3O8 was 71.4% on an average out of 25 samples. However, this experiment was not so effective on the oxidized ore.
