Abstract
The effect of compressibility of working fluid on cavitation was examined by a linear analysis with a singularity method based on closed cavity model. As Mach number increased, the steady cavity length became longer. The amount of the increase of the cavity length due to the increase of Mach number was larger at higher cavitation number. Unstable mode corresponding to forward rotating cavitation could be obtained by stability analysis. As Mach number increased, the occurrence region of the forward rotating cavitation expanded in terms of the cavitation number and the Strouhal number of it changed.
