Description
The gear honing is well used recently as a hard-gear-finishing method. Generally, the honing process can be applied between the external work gear and the grinding wheel shaped in internal gear. And, the meshing of the grinding wheel and the work gear is skew gear meshing. The characteristic tool mark appears on the honed work gear tooth surface. So, by the selection of the dimension of the grinding wheel, the part of the tool mark may appear rectilinear in the work gear tooth trace direction. In this paper, the method for analytically obtaining the tool mark is described. Then, by relating to the position of the instantenious axis, appearance reason of the above-mentioned uniqe tool mark is described.
