Abstract
This paper reports the vibration characteristics of banging vibration of uniform cantilever beams. The target is to clarify transient response and frequency response. For the transient response, the beam is given an initial displacement and released. For frequency response, it is excited with constant acceleration condition at the root by changing frequencies. Consequently, three peculiar characteristics were observed by experiments and numerical simulations. First, the damping depends on the strain. Second, changes of stiffness in banging vibration cause jumping phenomena. Finally, the banging vibration affects the transient and frequency response, dissipating the kinetic energy.
