- 2024 Effect of crushing behavior on energy absorption of unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced plastic plate
抄録
Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) has superior specific strength and stiffness as compared with metals. Well-designed FRP also displays high energy absorption capability. FRP may, therefore, play an important role to develop light weight and crashworthy automobiles. The energy absorption capability of FRP tube, however, is strongly affected by the parameters such as fiber type, matrix type, stacking sequence, and cross sectional feature, which results in the difficulty of appropriate design for each target. Plate-type specimen is preferred because it eliminates the effect of cross sectional feature and stacking sequence. Some researchers have introduced the test fixture for plate-type specimen. The appropriate evaluation of crushing behavior is, however, difficult because of knife edges and bending mode constraints. In this study, new test fixture was proposed to resolve the problems. Unidirectional laminated plate was used for test. Crushing tests were performed with various specimen shapes: the dimensional effect on energy absorption is investigated.
