Unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix and recycled jute woven cloth sourced from used coffee bags as reinforcements were used to fabricate natural fiber reinforced composites by Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) method which is suitable for mass production. The mechanical properties of the composites were evaluated by 3-point bending test, low-cycle fatigue bending test as well as the durability of the SMC in the hot water immersion. The SMC with the jute cloth achieved an elastic modulus value of about 80% and the strength value of about 85% of that of standard the SMC that the reinforcements were chopped strand glass mats. It was found that cracks were generated from the surface towards the fiber-matrix interface. After exposure to hydrothermal degradation for 504 hours, the bending strength of the SMC with the jute cloth decreased to about 60% to that of the virgin.
