Abstract
For quasi-isotropic CFRP laminates, the elastic stress-strain behavior is expected to be the same in any direction and/or stacking sequence of laminate. But fracture and/or strength of them may strongly depend on the loading direction and/or stacking sequence of laminate. In this study, tensile tests are carried out for the specimens, cut out in several directions from two kinds of quasi-isotropic CFRP laminates, to investigate the influence of loading direction and/or stacking sequence on tensile strength. A FEM code is used to analyze the stresses in the specimens. And using the Tsai-Wu failure criterion, the first damaged strength and the tensile strength of the laminate are predicted in the various loading directions.
