Experience with the Minamata disease/incident for most people may have been the same as the act of reading, watching and/or hearing media such as newspapers and television or books and movies. Television documentaries especially have represented various phases of "Minamata" in its historical context. For most people the images of television documentaries of "Minamata" have represented various memories with the Minamata disease/incident resulting from "experience with Minamata" to see fragmented images on television. The images of television documentaries of "Minamata", therefore, should be documents of that most people have experienced the Minamata disease/incident in terms of "watching television" in the media environment. Using the television documentaries of "Minamata" in academic education should be attempts to explain how the images, that construct documentary program, represent the history of Minamata disease/incident. In this sense television documentaries of "Minamata" and their images must be leading materials for academic education about the Minamata disease/incident.
