Description

Chemical and biological investigations were made on the diarrhoeal principles of rhubarb (Rheum coreanum NAKAI and other)s. It was found, by tracing the activity in mice, that the active substance can be extracted with water, and that one of the most active principles is sennoside A whose content seems to mainly determine the diarrhoeal activity of rhubarb.
