The Ordovician Strata in South Manchuria were divided by Dr., Ryuji Endo into five Formations in 1932., At that time he accepted Ulrich's opinion concerning the Canadian and Ozarkian., Subsequently however he abandoned these two terms and changed the formational name "Pingchou" for "Wanwan", as tabulated on page 114., The Wuting formation is the shell facies comprising twelve species of brachiopods, gastropods, cephalopods and trilobites, as listed on page 116 and is correlated by him to the Athens shale in the Appalachian region which in turn is the graptolite facies of the late Chazyan age and not the Lower Ordovician of the International time scale., In my opinion there is f rther no evidence convinciable this correlation, but his Kangyao, Wuting, and Ssuyen as a whole belong undoubtedly to the Toufangian series, the equivalent to the Black River-Trenton in North America., Recently he added four species of trilobites to the Wuting fauna, namely, Wutingia, rectangularis, Bathyurus granosa, Asaphelius orientalis, and Isotelus spiculum, but except for the first one from which he established a new genus, the generic references appear to be incorrect., The second species is certainly a Hystricurus and probably the third and fourth are closely allied to IIlaenus hinomotoensis and Xenostegium taurus respectively., it is suggested that his new genus Wutingia might be a link in the chains of evolutional line involving Chosenia and Kaolishania., Thus this trilobite faunule reveals the late Lower Ordovician character very distinely., Then, a question to be left is, how the Canadian trilobitse can be mixed with the other Wuting fossils.,
