Description

Using two frequencies, an electrochemical corrosion monitoring method based on a. c. impedance theory is proposed. From the current response of the corrosion cell at very high frequency, such as 10kHz, the solution reesistance, Rsol, is calculated. Digital Fourie integration of the current response at low frequency, such as 0.1Hz, yields the corrosion related capacitance, Cdl, and resistance, Rcor, from which the corrosion rate can be calculated. Comparisons of new method with the a. c. corrosion monitor which was developed by the present authors are made and some technical points to devise as a new corrosion monitor are described in detail.
