抄録

Ticarcillìn was administered clinically to 17 cases of infections in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, and the results were obtained as follows.<BR>1. Rate of clinical efficacy was 100% in 3 cases of acute simple urinary tract infection, and 36.4% in 11 cases of postoperative (uterine cancer) urinary tract infection. Results were excellent both in 2 cases of bartholinitis and in 1 case of adnexitis, rate of efficacy being 58. 8% throughout all 17 cases. <BR>2. Efficacy was obtained with less dose as 2 3 g per day.<BR>3. Bacteriologically, 80% of 25 strains isolated from urinary tract infection was eradicated in urine by ticarcillin administration. It is noteworthy that all 4 strains of Ps. aeruginosa isolated were eradicated by the drug administration.<BR>4. CBPC-, SBPC-, and ABPC-resistant strains disappeared enough in urine by ticarcillin administration, especially those of Citrobacter and Klebsiella. <BR>5. No side effect was observed which would have been due to ticarcillin administration.
