抄録

For a given power output for driving a vehicle, fuel consumption of the engine becomes tolerably economical when it runs with operating conditions of low speed and high torque rather than with high speed and low torque mainly because of decreasing friction loss. Therefore, by controlling simultaneously or with integration of both the throttle valve angle and continuous variable transmission (CVT) gear ratio, it is possible to operate the engine with minimum fuel consumption satisfying the demanded vehicle speed. However in this integration control, the variation of the time constant of the engine-CVT-load system is considerably enlarged by changing the CVT gear ratio. Thus, it is essential to vary the feedback gain of the closed loop which constructs the integration control system according to an operating condition of the engine-CVT-load system. Described here is the influence of variation of the time constant and a method of the compensation.
