Description

Optimal conditions to regenerate plants from balloon flower ovary explants were investigated. A high frequency of initiation rate of adventitious buds was obtained on an MS medium containing 1 mg·L−1 NAA and 5 mg·L−1 BAP, under a 16-h photoperiod. The shoots were transferred to MS medium and subsequently these elongated shoots developed roots. Plants that were transplanted into pots eventually formed roots and flowers, the latter were of the same shape and color as those of the mother plant. Cultivar differences were observed in the rate of adventitious bud formation. In conclusion, we establised suitable cultural conditions for shoot regeneration from ovary explants of balloon flower.<br>
