Abstract

The sound of rail type rolling guides with recirculating balls was studied. In this report, main peaks in the sound spectra obtained by the experiment in the 1st report were examined. The test roiling guides were operated at a constant linear velocity and the vibrations of some points on the bearing block were detected by two accelerometers. From the experimental analysis of the vibrations, it is found that the main peaks correspond to the rigid body modes of the bearing block. Frequency expressions for rigid-body natural vibrations of the bearing block were developed and were compared with experimental results of the main peaks. From the comparison, it was elucidated that the main peaks were caused by the rigid body natural vibrations of the bearing block. Moreover, considerable accuracy of the frequency expressions was shown.
