Abstract
Commercial aluminum paste containing 65wt% aluminum powder in a pail can was heated in the open air and combustion behaviors were tested. 20l mineral spirit in the pail can was also examined in the same way. Only combustion of the solvent is observed both in opened and sealed cans. No explosion takes place and any indications of dust explosion are unrecognized during the combustion processes of aluminum paste. Fire of aluminum paste at the beginning period is easily extinguished using a portable extinguisher. Violent explosion takes place of the mineral spirit in the sealed pail can.
