Description

During the dissection practice for students in 1974, the following case of variation muscle bundles, that arise from the posterior part of the second costa and insert to the medial border of the scapula bilaterally, that passes downward in the region of posterior neck region, was observed. No.297 : Age about 40, Male. 1. The variation muscle bundle of the right side arises from angle of the right second costa, descending from medial to inferior, obliquely between the right serratus anterior and serratus posterior superior and insert to the medial border of the right scapula. 2. The left variation muscle bundle is same as the variation muscle bundle of the right side. 3. The migrated muscle bundle in the region of posterior neck arises from nuchae fascia between the right sternocleidomastoideus and the right splenius capitis, descending covered by the right levator scapulae, crossing obliquely between the right splenius capitis and the right levator scapulae, and inserts to the fascia on the right serratus posterior superior insertion.
