Abstract

A new technique where digital long displacement control and analog precise positioning are sequentially combined is studied experimentally. In the digital process, only a set of single pulse brake control and proportional control is needed to get a time optimal response, and in the analog process, teflon guides to maintain the steady movement of piston and an automatic bias adjustment of the interference signal are available to keep the accuracy of controlled displacement. In the experiment a total maximum error 8.4×10-4μm is recorded.
