Abstract

In order to imporve the cutting accuracy of the direct-drive NC hobbing machine made by the authors, the stiffness of the servomechanism and the dynamic rigidity of the mechanism, such as mechanical components, were investigated. First, it was tried to apply a repetitive control to the servo system for decreasing the positioning error. However, it became clear that the addition of a dynamic compensator to the servo system is more useful rejecting the influence of the load fluctuation. Secondly, the synchronous error and mechanical displacement were measured, and the tooth profile error was simulated by using these actual data. The result of the simulation almost coincided with the error obtained by a gear tester. Finally, from the simulation and experiments, it became clear that the axial displacement and the radial displacement of the hob dominate the tooth profile error.
