In October of 1972, the authors described a new needle cast fungus of Cunninghamia lanceolata as Soleella cunninghamiae SAHO et ZINNO. After the report had been published, they received an information concerning on Bifusella cunninghamiicola OGIMI et KORF which was described on the same host in March of 1972 from Okinawa. The examination by microscope was made and the results showed that Soleella cunninghamiae and Bifusella cunninghamiicola were the same fungus. From the review of the discussion on the identification of the genera Bifusella and Soleella made by DARKER and KORF, and histological observation on the development of apothecia of the present fungus, the authors come to a conclusion that the fungus belongs to the genus Soleella and therefore, a new combination Soleella cunninghamiicola (OGIMI et KORF) SAHO et ZINNO would be accepted with two synonyms of Bifusella cunninghamiicola OGIMI et KORF and Soleella cunninghamiae SAHO et ZINNO.
