Enterprises dealing in forestry have developed along a two-tier structure where the process of labor and the process of producing value are unified. Forestry management discipline, meanwhile, reflecting the above, has evolved along increasing abstraction of forest management from technology to theoretical science orientation. However, with the drastic decline in productive power in forestry over recent years, the mode of management has been the subject of considerable criticism and an urgent demand for a management theory to cope with this problem has arisen. In an attempt to recover from the stagnated state and to bring about an expansion of productive power in forestry, it is necessary to establish critical forestry management practice, through rearrangement of fundamental forest management concepts. This is considered to be one field in forestry economics, and the induction of the theory of technology should be made in a manner compatible with the developmental stage of the forestry management and the direction of development of general science.
