Abstract

Jacaranda mimosaefolia D. DON was regenerated by shoot-tips subcultured on GAMBORG'S basal medium with the largest concentration of kinetin [6-furfurylaminopurine] (KIN) (100 μM). After six weeks of culture, a six-fold multiplication rate was achieved. Rhizogenesis frequency was 100% on half-strength amounts of the same initial medium containing indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) (0.49, 4.9 μM) alone, or in combination with naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) (0.27 μM). Rooted shoots were transferred to vermiculite substratum and acclimated successfully in a growth cabinet.
