説明

Change of litter after line-thinning in Pinus densiflora plantation was measured in Koma, Iwate Prefecture, where 18-year-old Pinus were line-thinned in 1971. Dry weight of fallen leaves, fallen branches and total litter (DLBL) in one year after the thinning decreased to 1.5, 0.2 and 2.2t/ha in 1/2 line-thinning plot, and decreased to 2.7, 0.5 and 4.3t/ha in 1/3 line-thinning plot. The ratios of fallen leaves, fallen branches and total litter on 1/2 and 1/3 line-thinning plots against those in the no-weeding plot (RLBL) decreased to 45, 20, 41% and 75, 45, 80%, respectively. However, in five years after the thinning DLBL of 1/2 and 1/3 line-thinned plots increased to 3.3, 0.4, 4.3t/ha and 3.7, 0.9, 5.3t/ha, respectively. RLBL of 1/2 and 1/3 line-thinned plot increased to 74, 38, 71% and 82, 77, 86%, respectively. Change of DLBL in 1/2 and 1/3 line-thinned plots was closely related to their total basal area. Mean DLBL of the no-thinning plot from 1971 to 1975 were 4.1, 1.1 and 5.8t/ha.
