抄録

Concerning radiography, it is desirable to have the bone formation and soft tissue formation appear on the film in proper density. If the thickness of the subject to be radiographed is extremely uneven, the image produced on the film will not appear evenly and diagnosis of the picture will be hindered. In order to compensate for the difference of x-ray absorption with such irregularity of density, we have investigated a way to film the area by means of using a cotton bag filled with a suitable combination of rice flour and sodium bicarbonate and placing it on the area in proper distribution. By using this method, stedies were made on the selection of powder and to its application. The areas filmed were the tomography of the nasal bone (lateral) and cervical vertebra (lateral), the cervical vertebra-upper thoracic vertebra (lateral), ankle joint (lateral), and metatarsus (dorsi-plantar). The result of the investigation was the improvement of the area of over exposure, and the proper density distribution. Also, as for the character and density of the mixed powder, we found that for normal useage the ratio of 60 to 40 of the rice powder and bicarbonate soda respectively, is most suitable.
