Abstract
Installing Daido Ladle Furnace (DLF), Chita plant (Daido Steel) has accomplished an integrate steel making process-ELVAC. ELVAC process is a combination of Electric arc furnace melting, Ladle furnace refining, Vacuum degassing and Continuous casting.<br>Linkage of LF to electric arc furnace (EAF) has increased the productivity of EAF, shifting the reducing period in EAF to LF refining.<br>In order to increase the desulfurization rate in the case of short free board ladle, we have developed Duplex-Stirring (DS method) combined top gas blowing with bottom stirring.<br>For further development, we also have developed Shallow Injection technology combined powder injection with bottom stirring. The reaction mechanism of Shallow Injection was observed as transitory reaction, and high desulfurization rate was obtained.
