Description
In recent years, highly efficient machining by multi-tasking machine tools attracts the attention since manufacturing industry tends to high-mix low-volume production. An introduction of multi-tasking machine tools results in many advantages. However, the machining operation is difficult due to the complexity of the machine tool structure. Consequently, NC programming for the machine tools requires much time and labor. In addition, the self-interference of the machine tools must be considered. The study deals with the development of an unprecedented CAM system which can achieve the process planning and generate NC programs automatically for multi-tasking machine tools by considering the self-interference and using 3D-CAD data. At the previous study, milling was limited to 3-axis machining. The study deals with the development of CAM system capable of 5-axis control milling in terms of the self-interference avoidance of the machine tools.
