抄録

Various TSH-tests have been reported, but many points to be studied are remainded in this present. So in order to select the formula of the TSH-test, the author studied in the administered dosis of the TSH and various modes of the TSH administration.<BR>1) a) In the thyroid uptake of I131, the author obtained the correlation coefficient 0.925 between the 3 hr values and the 24 hr values, and ascertained that the 3 hr values of I131 thyroid uptake sufficiently could take for the indicator of the trapping activity of the thyroid gland.<BR>b) The dosis of 500 J.S.U. of TSH was the maximal stimulant dosis in the thyroid gland of healthy adults.<BR>c) Jefferies method was more useful than the 24 hr method on the view of the I131 thyroid up-take.<BR>d) Then the author selected the Jefferies method and administered the dosis of 500 J.S.U. of the TSH showing the maximal stimulation of the thyroid gland.<BR>2) In this study, exophthalmic toxic goiter, simple goiter, Hypothyroidism, thyroiditis and malignant goiter were selected, and in these thyroid diseases the pituitary-thyroid axis could be observed through the TSH-test. This TSH-test particularly was useful to differentiate the hypothyroidism from other equivocal disease.<BR>In other endocrine disorders, (Cushings' Syndrome Addision's disease) the influence of the adrenocortical hormones on the thyroid gland were studied through the TSH-test, and were suggested that the adrenocortical hormones inhibited the TSH effect in the thyroid gland.<BR>3) In order to clarify the thyroid function of the senescence, the TSH-test was performed in elderly adults.<BR>Increments of the serum PBI in the aged after the TSH-administration were less than that in the younger, and increments of the I131 thyroid uptake were very lesser.<BR>This fact suggested that the hypothyroidism in the elderly adults based upon the pituitary hypo-function.
