POCTとは，ポータブル分析器や迅速診断キットを用いて医療現場で行うリアルタイム検査であり，病院の検査室あるいは外注検査センター以外の場所で実施されるすべての臨床検査を包含している．そのため実施場所や活用法においては，広範かつ多様なケースが想定される．POCTは操作が簡単な迅速検査であるが，使用方法やメンテナンス法を十分に理解したうえで使用しないとデータに影響を及ぼすので，管理運用にはPOCTコーディネータが不可欠である．<br>
